Self Care Tips For Coping with Depression and Anxiety

Listen to Music- a couple of hours of listening to songs can really make you feel better when you are depressed or anxious. I like taylor swift songs.

Exercise workouts- Pilates and zumba are good exercises to do when you feel this way or any workout. They make me forget for a while that I'm feeling bad and release endorphins that make the brain happier. Also going to the gym for an hour is really positive.

Go for a walk - Going for a short walk just round the block can really help with anxiety. It is good to get fresh air each day and will help the mood.

Swimming- This is good if you are feeling low. It is exercise which releases endorphins and is relaxing too.

Breathe in and out slowly- sometimes anxiety really makes me panic so I do this for ten seconds and it can make me feel a bit calmer.

Eat well- eating good food that's healthy helps the mood.

Get enough sleep- This is important because depression and anxiety tire the body out a lot so getting 8 hours a night might help.

Have a planned week- I find that with depression and anxiety knowing what you are going to do that week helps because you don't have to think about it too much.

Baking- I love baking so this helps me as it is therapeutic and fun so it might help you too.

Socialise- Sometimes getting out to have coffee with a friend really helps if you are low .

Keep busy- This is helpful to me and can take the mind off bad things for a while so having a busy week is important but obviously not so you are overwhelmed.

Stroking a pet is known to actually lower blood pressure so if you have one that can help.

Reading - sometimes takes you out of your thoughts .

Switch Your phone and laptop off an hour before you go to bed for a better nights sleep. The light from the devices stimulates your brain so doesn't make for  a relaxing nights sleep.

Read a book- A good book can allow you to escape into another world for a while
